Validating the Vision update
Last year, much time was spent collecting data for our
strategic plan, Validating the Vision. This process is
required for our application for reaccreditation with
the Middle States Association and the National Catholic
Education Association. The efforts were coordinated by
Ms. Alberta Latorre, working with a planning committee
of administration and involved all faculty members on
subcommittees. TC parents, students and other groups
were surveyed in order to gain a sense of where we are
and where we need to go within the next seven years.
During the process, we studied our mission, vision,
philosophy, and beliefs that form the foundation for
educating students here at Towson Catholic.
Subcommittees of faculty and staff worked on evaluating
all areas of our school, including
Curriculum/Instruction, School & Community Relations,
Finance, Institutional Advancement, Facilities,
Professional Development, Climate and Culture, School
Community, Governance/Accountability, Student
Activities/Athletics, and Student Services. Now that
recommendations from all committees have been submitted,
the steering committee will help the faculty to
formulate objectives based on the recommendations for
improvement. One of those objectives must be in the area
of Faith Development. The other focus areas will be
determined after the faculty hears all of the areas of
concern from all of the committees. It will take us this
full year to develop our seven-year strategic plan. You
will be invited to participate in the process as time
goes on, since all of us will be living out the plan
together in the TC community. Board members, parents,
students, alumni, teachers, and staff will be asked to
give input into the plan in a variety of ways. The
Validating the Vision plan will focus our attention on
measurable student achievement to chart our success over
the years. The process will culminate in a site visit by
a visiting team from the Middle States Association in
the Spring of 2009. After that visit, we will receive a
detailed report on how we are performing as a school,
and hopefully, TC will be reaccredited until 2016. We
will share more information about this process as the
year progresses.
