Towson Catholic
High School offers a diverse program of extracurricular activities designed to discover
and develop each student's unique talents and abilities. Students may participate in
student government, National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, newspaper, yearbook,
creative arts magazine, Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), drama,
Teens for Life, Peer Ministry, and the
Cultural Diversity Club. For participation in extracurricular activities all
students must meet specific academic criteria.
Self-discovery and social development are important goals
of the extracurricular programs, but the school also stresses commitment to others and to
the community.

To be eligible to participate in any
extracurricular activities, a student must have at least a 75 average
and no more than one failing grade on the quarterly report card.
Students who become ineligible, may regain their eligibility at the next
mid-quarter interim report, provided they have at least a 75 average and
no more than one failing grade on the interim report.

Student Government:
The purpose
of the Student Government is:
To provide students an opportunity for self-government and directly
experience democratic practices.
To work in partnership with the administration and faculty in the
development of school procedures and practices.
To create better fellowship and understanding between faculty and
students, and among students themselves.
To plan and carry out events for the student body.
To encourage support for all school activities and to build school
spirit.
The SGA consists of a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, parliamentarian/
historian, a class president from each class, and three representatives from each class.
Underclass elections typically take place during the month of October. Upper-class
elections take place in May.

THE HILLTOP CHAPTER OF THE NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY OF
SECONDARY SCHOOLS was established in 1948. The object of the chapter is to create an
enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote worthy
leadership, and to encourage the development of character in students of Towson Catholic.
Membership is based on the qualities of SCHOLARSHIP, SERVICE, LEADERSHIP, AND CHARACTER.
Candidates must be enrolled at Towson Catholic for a least
one semester and maintain the school standard for second honors. Juniors or
Seniors may be nominated. A faculty committee determines membership.
National Art Honor
Society

The Towson Catholic Chapter of the National Art Honor
Society recognizes student achievement and excellence in the visual arts. It encourages
students to explore their own potential, to think creatively, to solve problems with
ingenuity, and to respond to events and experiences with confidence and enthusiasm.
The program inspires and recognizes sophomores, juniors,
and seniors who have shown an outstanding ability in art and who have made a valuable
contribution to the school, community, and society. The NAHS sponsors artistic displays
around the school as well as contests and exhibits.
Liturgical
Committee

Under the guidance of the Campus Minister, members of the
peer ministry team work together to plan creative, varied and meaningful Eucharistic
Celebrations and other worship experiences. Liturgies are held on a monthly
basis. Special liturgical celebrations are held for Pin, Ring, and Graduation
ceremonies. This committee is also responsible for the chapel environment.
The Owl -
Newspaper

The Owl newspaper has been published since 1930. As
an outlet for student endeavors in journalism, it serves as an instrument for keeping the
Towson Catholic community aware of school activities and news. Participation is open to
all year levels.
The Hilltop -
Yearbook

The HILLTOP is our yearbook which highlights our students
and chronicles the events of the school year. The staff has an opportunity to learn
while doing. Organization of this publication includes choosing a theme, cover, and
layout design, as well as providing computer instruction, writing copy and captions, using
regular and digital photography, and participating in fundraising activities.
Students from all grades are encouraged to participate in this year-long activity.
The Unicorn -
Creative Arts Magazine

The Unicorn is published annually. This activity fosters
creativity in poetry, prose, art and photography. Students in all grades are encouraged to
participate in this publication.
S.A.D.D. -
Students Against Destructive Decisions

This activity is open to students in all grade levels who
are interested in educating others about the hazards of alcohol and drug use. The
organization prepares programs, assemblies, and prom related activities (such as Prom
Promise) to raise student awareness of the hazards of drinking, doing drugs, and driving
under the influence.
Drama

Through the annual production of a play and a musical, students have
the opportunity to develop poise and an understanding of drama as an art form. Students
commit themselves to a professional atmosphere where they learn about the theater and
about each other.
Teens for
Life

These students actively promote the value
of life from the moment of conception to the moment of natural death. Students participate
in life affirming activities at school and in the greater community. They also assist
organizations that affirm life and improve the quality of life for individuals near and
far.
Peer
Ministry

Peer Ministry is an active response to the baptismal
call of service that empowers young people to be a living Gospel within
their school community. Junior and senior students are invited to share
their faith and belief in Jesus with their peers through liturgy,
retreats, and other community-wide programs
