Congratulations to Donte Greene |

Former Towson Catholic Basketball Player
Donte Greene Joins the NBA
Donte Greene, Baltimore native and 2007
graduate of Towson Catholic High School
has signed a NBA contract with the
Sacramento Kings. Greene declared
himself eligible for the draft after
completing one year at Syracuse
University where he let the Orange in
scoring, averaging 17.7 points per
game.
According to Syracuse University
website, “Greene was a second team
All-BIG EAST Conference selection and
earned a spot on the BIG EAST Conference
All-Rookie Team. He was the conference
rookie of the week five times. He earned
a spot on the league's weekly honor roll
once. Greene was a first team National
Association of Basketball Coaches pick
and made the United States Basketball
Writers of Association District II
squad. He was a Rivals.com Second
Team Freshman All-American and a
collegehoops.net All-Freshman
honorable mention selection.”
Greene has deep roots in the Baltimore area, where
he lived for several years until he was
8 years old. His family moved often, but
he returned to Baltimore when he was 12
years old and soon after began playing
for the Towson Catholic High School
Owls. While at Towson Catholic, Donte
Greene was selected to play on McDonalds
All American High School Team consisting
of the best high school basketball
players in the country.
Towson Catholic High School’s Josh
Pratt coached Greene in his final two
years at Towson Catholic. He says he
has received nearly a dozen calls from
NBA teams asking about the former
student.
Donte Greene was quoted in the Baltimore Sun
saying “Growing up as a kid, your dream
is to play in the NBA. Having that dream
and knowing what I’m capable of doing, I
felt like it was time.” Greene follows
in the footsteps of Towson Catholic High
School’s former player Carmelo Anthony,
who currently plays for the Denver
Nuggets.

Knott Foundation Grant to TC |
|
The Knott Foundation has awarded $50,000
to Towson Catholic High School to
support the implementation of the Marian
Program, a resource program for students
with learning needs.
This
is a great honor for TC. Hundreds of
proposals are submitted each year to the
Knott Foundation by organizations
seeking funding for special projects and
programs.
Students in the new Marian
Program must be able to manage the
regular college prep curriculum, with
added support from a Resource Specialist
during the school day. With the support
of this funding, TC will be able to
offer the services parents need for their students who
may have learning differences.

New Alumni Director |
Mrs.
Carol Jackson Short has been
appointed as the new Alumni Director
for Towson Catholic High School.
Carol comes to Towson Catholic from
NDP where she was Middle Level
Assistant Principal for 12 years.
Prior to her tenure at Notre Dame,
she led the Middle School at
Maryvale Prep, where she handled the
responsibilities of Athletic
Director as well. Carol worked in
the Baltimore County Schools in her
early career in education, in
addition to working with the BC
Recreation Council.
Carol
comes “back home” as she returns to
our campus. Although not an alumna
of TC, she is an alumna of
Immaculate Conception School, where
her mother, Mrs. Dorothy Kunkel
Jackson taught for more than 20
years. Immaculate Conception parish
was her family’s parish as the
Jackson’s lived in the Towson area
for many years. She keeps contact
with her classmates from ICS on a
regular basis. Carol now lives in
New Freedom, PA near her son John,
daughter Jan and their families.
Her son Paul lives on the West
Coast.
